Diabetes
All patients with diabetes (type 1 or 2) should be on a healthy whole food based LOW CARBOHYDRATE diet. This means no more than 50 grams net carbs per day, less than 20 grams per day if you have weight to lose.
CAUTION!! If ON INSULIN and starting a low carb diet….you will need to lower your insulin, and this should be carefully monitored by your doctor.
Should not eat:
Sweets/sugar/bread/rice/pasta/potatoes/cereal/oatmeal/bagels/crackers
Should limit:
Fruit as this is still sugar in the form or Fructose.
